The 2018 State of Inclusive Business Survey was carried out to help advance core business activities that are inclusive of low-income populations and contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Paula Pelaez

Paula heads the Business Call to Action, working closely with our partners and member companies to advance inclusive business contribution to the SDGs. Prior she worked for BSR, a leading sustainability organization, advising large corporations on a range of sustainability issues including responsible sourcing, human rights, sustainability strategy, and inclusive economy. Paula worked for UNDP in NYC, as Programme Advisor for a large portfolio of programmes in Asia and Eastern Europe, working on issues relating to private sector development, youth employment, and gender economic empowerment. Previously Paula worked with international NGOs such as CARE International, and the Aga Khan Foundation on value chain development projects, social impact investing, and microfinance. She has worked and lived in a number of countries, including Bangladesh, Kenya, Mozambique. Paula began her career in Bogota, working in marketing for Grupo Aval, the largest financial economic holding in Colombia.
Eric Whan

Eric is a specialist in corporate and non-profit leadership, with deep expertise in helping organizations drive positive change in the world through stakeholder and consumer engagement. He takes pride in helping organizations achieve leadership positions and most enjoys working with clients who are champions of change within their organizations. He currently leads The GlobeScan /SustainAbility Survey, the world’s definitive survey of sustainable development experts, and directed “Greendex” – the largest global study tracking sustainable consumption trends – in partnership with the National Geographic Society. Recent clients include the New York City Mayor’s Office, Newmont, SC Johnson, The Government of Canada, the Inter-American Development Bank, ISEAL, We Mean Business, the Royal Bank of Canada, 3M, and the Forest Stewardship Council among many others.
Stuart L. Hart
Steven Grossman Endowed Chair in Sustainable Business @Inclusive Business Action Network
Stuart L. Hart is one of the world's top authorities on the implications of environment and poverty for business strategy. According to Bloomberg Businessweek, he is “one of the founding fathers of the ‘base of the pyramid’ economic theory.” Hart is the Steven Grossman Endowed Chair in Sustainable Business at the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business and Co-Founder of the School’s Sustainable Innovation MBA Program as well as S.C. Johnson Chair Emeritus in Sustainable Global Enterprise and Professor Emeritus of Management at Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, where he founded the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise. Hart is also Founder and President of Enterprise for a Sustainable World, Founder of the BoP Global Network, Founding Director of the Emergent Institute in Bangalore, India, and a member of the Net Impact Board. He has published more than 100 papers and authored or edited nine books with over 30,000 Google Scholar citations.
